The FNIH 2023 in Review

Thanks to the support of dedicated advocates like you, the FNIH has had an incredible 2023. We want to share with you some of the exciting and impactful initiatives you helped underwrite this past year.

That includes:

  • The launch of a new Accelerating Medicines Partnership® (AMP®) on Heart Failure to better diagnose and find treatments for the leading cause of death in the United States and across the globe.
  • NIMBLE (Non-Invasive Biomarkers of Metabolic Liver Disease) revolutionized liver disease diagnosis and treatment by replacing invasive and painful liver biopsies with bloodwork and imaging.
  • In partnership with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, our Azithromycin Prevention in Labor Use Study (A-PLUS) found that a single dose of antibiotic can prevent deadly sepsis in laboring mothers.
  • With Georgetown University’s O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law, we informed the World Health Organization (WHO) and global community on a treaty for pandemic preparedness.
  • In collaboration with many partners, we powered science by celebrating and training the next generation of scientists through more than a dozen high impact awards and educational initiatives.

We are grateful for your partnership now and always and look forward to connecting with you throughout the year with more stories and updates on our collective progress.
